Only 2 very careful owners for this Alpa 38. Between 1976 and 2007 she was skippered and managed by its first Owner who bought her brand-new.
The second and current owner took her over in 2007 and sailed her with his family over summer.
Designed by Sparkman & Stephen, the Alpa 38 was built to break North Europe yards' seemingly unshakable dominance on the center-cockpit boats, She is a cruising boat, easy to steer shorthanded and equipped with first-rate equipment. The cockpit (in teak) is center, now back in fashion to create a larger aft cabin. The interior finishes are excellent, simple but original. The mirror double sofa allows for good livability and the result is an advantage for the other two cabins, aft and forward, equipped with double berths, and for the two bathrooms, both with showers.
The engine is a 40HP Mercedes MB 180 Nanni entirely overhauled by Nanni in 2007 by the previous owner. Since reconditioning to today (14 Oct 2021) it has done 1481 hours. The engine runs very well, but at the first attempt.
The sails are in good conditions, especially the mainsail. The mainsail and the genoa are from 2007 (Bianchi and Migliori). The boat has also been aquipped with a gennaker and a spinnaker both with sock, as well as a jib 2.
The shrouds are the original ones but they look great. Alpa has greatly oversized the rig and structures of this class. In example, also the Goiot skylights doesn't make a drop of water.
In 2013 the electrical panel was redone with excellent quality switches, circuits changed cables etc.
In 2014 the 2 toilets were replaced

In 2019 the hull was cleaned by removing the old layers of antifouling and bringing it to the gelcoat. This was sandblasted and covered with 2 coats of epoxy paint. The hull haven't been shown trace of osmosis
In 2019 the windlass (electric motor, gears, bearings and oil seals) was overhauled
In 2021 the 3 batteries were replaced (115 Amp each, one motor, two in parallel services)
